Tired of layering? A long sleeves maxi dress/abaya will save you... ;)
We often choose maxi dresses especially for their extreme comfort, and for their "easy-ness to wear".. We can call it a grab-and-go-dress. But, with a twist, many maxi dresses define elegant with their vivid patterns, intricate details and vivacious color palettes.
Solid Color Maxi Dresses:
If you think the solid natural-shade maxi dress is too simple, just add the 'right' accessories like statement necklace, bold bracelets and ring, edgy belt, etc, or even a vest; and pair it with fab shoes or bag, to jazz up the look. But remember, keep the accessories small and delicate. Let the dress be the most substantial thing on your look.
If you don't like wearing accessories, instead of wearing a solid maxi dress, playing with printed maxi dresses. You almost need no accessories to go with it:
If you are wearing a dress with a low-cut neckline, beside wearing your hijab/headscarf, add a scarf and wrap it around your neck to tie it all together in a sophisticated way. Or, wear a wide-and-long (huge) hijab/headscarf, and (after you cover your head and neck with it) draw the rest of it to your bosom, then pin it.
Opt a vivid hijab/headscarf if you are wearing a solid natural-shade dress; and go the opposite route if your dress is a printed dress.
Recently, my friend blogger, Dina Faoziah (her blog is NotesDina.wordpress.com) told me about Dina Torkia a.ka Dina Toki-O. Hehe... they both have the same name... what a coincidence! :)
I straightly fell in love with Dina Toki-O's style... It's so refreshing and inspiring!
I love the structures of the clothes and how she mix and match pieces. Even some pieces of clothes in these shots are her own designs.
According to the interview done by The Modesty Movement in November 2010, Dina Torkia was born in Cairo City 21 years ago. Her ethnicity is white African/mixed race white British/Egyptian. Dina also said that she has been designing her own clothing line, and is about to launch her collection and open a boutique or two this year, 2011.
You can read her full interview with The Modesty Movementhere. Wish I have a chance to interview her by myself... ;)
Recently, on February 12, 2011, she held a Global Extravaganza Fashion Show in City Hall, Cardiff, showcasing her designs. Photos of the Fashion Show are on her Facebook page.
1. Try to do the 'Dina Toki-O signature hijab style - volumized hijab wrap -. Check out the tutorial on one of the way she did it here, on her Facebook page.
2. Big earrings, a big ring, and lots of bracelets :)
