Opinion:The media is obsessed with how Muslim women look

(CNN) -- Muslim women are more high profile than ever in 2010. However, a problem remains: news stories about them are fixated on appearance.

Most major stories about Muslim women revolve around how they look and what they're wearing -- not who they are and what they are doing.

Lace Dress over Pinstripes Shirt... Love it or Leave it?

This picture was taken from Stockholm street. It's interesting because the girl in the picture layered a black lace dress over white-blue pinstripes shirt.

As hijabis, layering is our 'bestfriend'. We do layering stuffs a lot. When I saw this picture, I don't know whether I can follow this style or not. What do you think, Dainty Ladies? Is this something we can try or not?

Anyway, I love the leather backpack... ^_^

Below is a video report from Net-A-Porter showing this Fall Winter fashion trend:

What do you think? Would you wear that kind of cover ups?

But for you, who live in tropical countries like me... ^_^ where the weather is hotter, we can modify the cover ups, like wearing this kind of open drape cardigans:

Minimalism in Fashion

Stylenotes

Minimalism style... Who has never been in minimalism?

ShopStyle blog wrote:
"In a world full of colors and patterns and complicated seams and beadings, sometimes we just retreat to the simplest form of beauty, minimalism.  Everyone has probably been a minimalist at one time or another without realizing.  It could be the classic white button down shirt you wore to work, or a simple cardigan you can't seem to take off because it matches with everything, or the ladylike black leather bag you have been carrying around since the dawn of time."
Yes, sometimes the best thing to wear is minimalism, it's not too bright, not too attractive, something simple and comforting yet timeless, and knowing that people won't judge or even won't notice us while walking.

I love minimalism... ^_^ How about you?

Are you a fan of Minimalism?

A Lovely Dress from iLoveModesty

Just want to share my happiness... ^_^ .

About a week ago, I have won a free gift from iLoveModesty, an online Canadian Fashion Boutique founded in 2009 with the aim of providing stylish modest clothing. I have a CA$100 shopping voucher to be spent at their website. So I can choose which item I want from the site, and then I chose this dress (Mahi Gown):

It worth CA$ 96.99. What an expensive gown! So from CA$100 shopping voucher, I get only 1 item... ^_^.
From the picture on their website, the dress looks so gorgeous, and I love the color! I can't wait to see it 'in action' on me! :)

Everyday I've been waiting for the parcel, but until now I'm not receiving it yet. Perhaps my expectation was too big. I thought I will receive it in one week... hmm but after a second thought, I think it might need some more time to the gift to arrive... because Canada is sooo far from here. Do any of you know how long does it take to deliver a parcel from Canada to Indonesia?

Soon, after I receive my parcel, I want to do a review about the dress. So, if you intend to shop from iLoveModesty, and need this review, watch this space, I'll do my best to do an honest review.

Note:
I get this FREE gift courtesy of iLoveModesty from a competition I entered. I receive no compensation for doing this review. The review would be just my honest opinion, and I thought it would be helpful for those who need it... :)

Feminine, Chic, and Trendy: Dian Pelangi from Indonesia

I would like to post about Dian Pelangi's style a while back ago. Dian Pelangi is a young talented fashion designer from Indonesia whose style I love, and she has kindly given me permission to post some of her style pictures on Fashioning Faith.

But, I have a doubt to feature Dian Pelangi on my blog, because "Dian, you are sooo famous!" Many popular style-blogs for Muslim Women has already featured you on their blogs. So, what for I'm featuring you again?... hehe...

But I can't stand myself to not featuring Dian Pelangi on my blog. She is very inspirational! Her style is so stunning! Can't help to not archiving Dian's style on my blog's file! :) I love to collect all the style crush that inspire me, and I feel happy if it would be helpful for other people... to enjoy and getting inspired from them.

And maybe, some of you do not know yet Dian Pelangi... and her style... and her designs... :) So, here I go... featuring Dian Pelangi on my blog. So excited! Hope it would be helpful and inspiring for all of us! A big thank you for Dian. I'm proud to have you in Indonesia... :)

Dian also has her own style blog: The Merchant Daughter. Check it out to see more of her style. She post her daily outfits on that blog, and also the tutorial on how she wrap her hijab, "the famous Dian Pelangi's hijab style"... ;).

Curious about Dian's clothing designs?

Here is her clothing line's page on facebook, and this is my previous post about her design and her participation in Jakarta Fashion Week 2009 titled "Indonesia Hijab Fashion: A Look Back".

Good News!

If you'd love to meet up Dian, here's a chance for you, Dian pelangi collaborated with another Indonesian young designer, Ria Miranda, and duo fabulous Hijab Scarf bloggers, are inviting all of you, to come to Jakarta Indonesia on August 23rd, 2010, to have "break fasting dinner" and watch Irna La Perle's fashion show together with them. How excited! I wish I could come... :)
