It would be an awesome feeling to wear a jilbab, or an abaya, or a maxi dress, designed exactly what you want it to be. Especially if the design get compliments by well-known designers, such as Rabia Z and Muna Abu Sulayman, and get an appreciation from people who love it and want to wear it, too!

So, if you like sketching and designing clothes, if you want to make your dreamed jilbab/abaya come true, or if you just want to test your capability on fashion designing; whether you are a professional designer or not; you can join StyleIn! Competition held by SilkRouteClothing and IslamicDesignHouse.

SilkRoute, an Islamic clothing brand based in London UK, and supported by their main distributor in the UK, Islamic Design House, is back on the search for that special someone who can fuse modesty and fashion flare and create an iconic jilbab/abaya design for their next Spring collection. Now, they are gearing up for their second global jilbab design competition. Muslims from around the world can join.

By being participate in this competition, you will have a chance to win this big prize:

• £500 cash
• Work with the head designer, Adnan Khalid, in watching your design come to life, ready to be sold in SilkRoute new Spring 2012 collection
• 6 months paid internship with the silk route design team
• Fashion features in numerous Muslimah Fashion magazines! (Sisters, Aquila Asia, Emel Magazine, ALA Magazine, Azizah, Gulnara, Hijabi, etc.)

Along with a chance to have your design work judged by the noted Muslimah wear designers, Rabia Z and Muna Abu Sulayman as part of the judging panel! Yeyy.. and the best part is you can wear your dreamed abaya :)

There will be also the second and the third winners, with 7 runners up, which each of them will have awesome prizes, too!

Hijab Tutorial: The Flowy Look

At least once a week, I spend a bit of time reading fashion blogs that I love. And then, from it, I usually came across some blogs that I've never seen before.

Today, I stumbled upon Irma's blog, Yes, I'm Irma. She's really got an eye for style. On her blog, she also share some hijab tutorials.

There are two tutorials that really caught my attention. She got these styles from the Hijab Class she took part held by Hijabers Community Jakarta.

I'm so glad she took her time to made these tutorials and share them on her blog. I really really fell in love with the 'natural' and the flowy look of these hijab styles, and I just can't wait to apply it to myself tomorrow! :)

Both styles also have a twist ala hana-tajima of stylecovered.. :)

To make these hijab-wrappings, you need:

• an inner, that cover your hair, neck, and upper bosom, or so-called ninja headdress.

• a shawl/pashmina; with flowy materials would be better. On the first tutorial, Irma used a reversible two-tones shawl.
• one brooch for the 1st style; and two pins/brooches for the 2nd style..

Sunday Fun with Hijabers Community Yogyakarta (HCY), July 10th, 2011.

This is the first time I met and attended an event held by Hijabers Community Yogyakarta (HCY). HCY is a community which in it, all Muslim women (especially who live in Yogyakarta-Indonesia and its surroundings area) can meet up, sharing, and do positive activities as a way to build a strong and good relationship between Muslimah ('silaturahmi') and as a place to improve ourself to be a better Muslimah.

Every month HCY held twice Sunday Fun's event as a routine meeting. It's on the first and the third Sunday of the month.

Last week HCY's Sunday Fun held a seminar about women's reproduction health (topic: cervical cancer), and a muslimah fashion bazaar. Sounds really fun, right?

The Seminar. Speaker: Ibu Sri Panuntun, a lecture and also a nurse-midwife.

Yes, I have a great fun attending this routine meeting with Yogyakarta's hijabers (hijaber/hijabi = a call for a Muslim woman who wear hijab). 

I got new knowledges, new friends, a new hijab-style (one pretty sister kindly share to me on how she wrapped her hijab), and also.. a new beautiful purple-pink shawl I bought from the bazaar :)

Note: the 'yellow-mustard' above is a maxi dress with a hood. Same like the hoodie t-shirt, the hood is functioned as a shawl/hijab, too. Yellow-mustard.. matched with the colour black, looks awesome.
