Stunning!

As for the tops, which are unique but unfortunately-too-disclosed for Muslim fashion, definitely must be worn with a great blazer or jacket.. Now, they're hijab-ready! :)

Style Note

Lanvin 'Alber Elbaz' collection in Resort 2013 looks edgy yet elegant and well-constructed. The chosen color palette was as bold as ever, whether it stands as a monochromatic color, stripes, or in prints.

There are two looks that caught my attention especially because of their full-covered cuts and loose-fitting silhouettes.

First, is a loose pleated maxi dress in soft cream.

It was paired with a black leather waist belt. I love the breezy effortless spin yet elegant look they created.. The pleats give an edgy-touch to the look as well.. Score! ;)

(Styling tips: Wear an under-garment if you wear a dress like this to lessen the sheer-ness).

A little playful question to you: For this monochrome ensemble, what kind/color of handbag do you think will make the most out of this look? Do you prefer pair it up with a contrast bright color handbag which will provide an interesting punch to the look, or pair it with a handbag from the same color-shades to keep it looks classic?


If you have a daring-with-an-edge style, perhaps another look from Lanvin Resort 2013 could be your style..

The other covered-look by Lanvin I spotted on is a bit glossy printed-outfit.

The prints of scenery cover the whole clothes, from top to the ankles.. (I can see the unique prints of coconut trees placed at front of the pants.. hehe). I do not know what the outfit's material is but it looks a bit glossy.

And.. as if it's still less-"crowded", Alber Elbaz styled the outfit up with dense statement accessories: piles of necklaces, armfuls of bangles, and a medium-sized handbag, completed with a "funky" face cover.

Besides accessories, handbags are what Alber Elbaz has been focusing a lot of attention on lately, as he said in his presentation at the show. "I heard that bags are very important in fashion," he said again. So, we'll see what models of handbag would be showed up at the next Lanvin's fashion show.

Style Inspiration 

Womenswear designer Chloe Jones, a student from Bath Spa University (one of UK's top fashion universities), showcasing her collection, entitled Our father who art in heaven, at the Graduate Fashion Week, UK, and scooped the Graduate Fashion Week Gold Award yesterday.

What attracted my attention is the style of her collection.. it is full covered (even though some of the designs are still not modest from Islamic perspective for its sheer-ness).

Are they inspired by Muslim women's wear?; Or, the opposite, this collection can be a style inspiration for Muslim women.

It is a mix of ethereal printed full-length skirts with slouchy hooded tops, inspired by gothic architecture and stained glass windows. The range was a combination of sportwear with couture detailing for a very modern feel.

In shades of grey and a Wing print, volumous silk dress fall to the floor beneath organza hoodies and marl jerseys which are heavily adorned with metallic embroidery and embellishment.

Elie Saab's collection for Fall 2012 is so gorgeous. Here is one of the collection which is so elegance, covered yet looks comfort...

Pop up a headscarf in the same tone, or in a clash-y tone, with the dress, and... voila!.. A perfect look for Hijabi.

Feauturustic 2012 by Up2Date

One of Indonesia's well-known clothing lines in Muslim Fashion, Up2Date, on December 15th, 2011, showcased their feauturustic collection in regard to Jakarta Fashion Week.

According to Nita Damayanti, the chief director of Trimoda UptoDate, the word "featurustic" was a synergism of words: feauture, future, and rustic. So it can be defined as the upcoming looks with a touch of rustic/country style.

I love the "casual-ness", "comfort-ness" and "new-ness" that shone through the collection.

The trend of year 2012 on Muslim Fashion showed by the video clip is all about multicultural looks, and that Muslim fashion can be fun and playful.

You can do it yourself by mixing-and-matching two or more cultural touch (selected from a great variety of world's cultures and traditions) into one outfit. Or, creating a kind of urban/contemporary look with a touch of local culture.

Some news I picked from the fashion world in the past week are filled with a "touch" of Muslim fashion. From the world's hub of high fashion, New York, to the running Fashion Week in London, and Indonesia (the next fashion hub... *I hope.. ^_^* especially for Muslim fashion).

From New York, The National and The Guardian reported that the world's first Muslim model agency has been opened in New York city on February 11th, 2012. Although, as long as I know, this is not the first.. Indonesia already had this kind of agency that represents Muslim women with hijab only as models. Hmm... but I forgot the agency's name ;)

Live report from London Fashion Week also showed some covered styles that were running down the runway. On day 2, Issa London with her 'full prints' Autumn/Winter 2012 collection showcased beautiful prints on some model's outfits and headscarves.

And from Indonesia I heard the news that there will be an event on September called "World Muslimah Beauty 2012" competition. I do not know is this some kind of "hijabified" Miss Universe or is it different.. Let me find out more about this :)

As for the first news, do you remember my previous post, Covered is the new couture, about the upcoming launch of Underwraps, the first Muslim model agency in New York? Now, it has been opened.

World's first Muslim model agency opens in New York.

The launch of the world's first Muslim model agency, in New York's fashionable Tribeca district, offered an interesting alternative to the options presented at New York Fashion Week a few blocks uptown. A coming-together of a particularly stylish segment of the Islamic community in this cosmopolitan city, the event on Saturday night played host to everyone from a fully veiled woman in black abaya to dramatically coiffed fashionistas (and fashionistos) curious about a groundbreaking project.

The founder of the Underwraps agency, Nailah Lymus, is a born-and-bred New York Muslim with a love of fashion and a mission to prove Islam's worth and tolerance to a city whose inhabitants remain, in many cases, emotionally fragile and somewhat suspicious of Islam more than a decade after the tragic September 11 terrorist attacks.

If the guests atttending the Stella McCartney party are anything to go by, then flesh will feature prominently in London fashion week. If so it will be a far cry from one fashion show in New York last week, which coincided with the launch of a new agency for Muslim models. Could the trend for modest couture catch on here?

Issa London's full prints collection for Autumn/Winter 2012-2013:

Issa London, in her show in London Fashion Week's day 2 (February 18th, 2012), wrapped some of her models with modest outfits.

I love the outfit combined with a big flower-printed headscarf worn by one of the models. Unfortunately the outfit, particularly the bottom part of the outfit, was not really modest (from Islamic rules' point of view).. It should have been a modest outfit if only the model didn't wear a pair of tight pants but instead a maxi skirt or wide pants in the same prints.

However, love the way this outfit was mixed-and-matched..

For hijabi, of course it's better to change the tight pants with a pair of wide pants or maxi skirt.. :)

Muslim Influence to High Fashion

New York City as one of the world's hubs of high fashion, now far more embracing the Muslim Fashion to their industry.

A startup event, held by RARE by F.S. Charlie teaming up with a Muslim female, New York-based fashion designer, Nailah Lymus, will make history by launching UNDERWRAPS, the first global agency representing Muslim female fashion models, during this year New York Fashion Week.

It is also a proof that Muslim fashion is making its way into the international world of fashion.

Underwraps's roster will debut in a fashion showcase presented by Amirah Creations on February 11th, 2012.

Known for breaking barriers as a Muslim female fashion designer behind Amirah Creations, Nailah Lymus said:
