Fuchsia Riverstone

Hijabi Fashion Week Nov 2011 - Day 6
Theme: Date with Hubby

What color is Fuchsia?

The hot Pink-Purple color is called Fuchsia. On the purple side of pink, fuchsia is another name for magenta... and here is myself sporting my new favorite scarf, Fuchsia Riverstone Batik Scarf, for my "a week late" Hijabi Fashion Week - Day 6's Look: going date with hubby.. ;)

The scarf was made by a handmade-weaving technique with cute fuchsia riverstones motifs on it. The color gave a sense of romantic; the materials and the motifs gave a sense of ethnic yet fashionable and edgy.

Outfits:
  • Scarf by Ina'sScarf: Riverstone motifs, handmade woven made in Indonesia by the local craftmen. I am proud wearing this scarf.. :)
  • An ethnic necklace from Kalimantan worn as a bracelet.
  • Wedges with hexagonal motifs; The motifs look like Phyton-skin motifs.

Vacation Look

Hijabi Fashion Week Nov 2011 - Day 4
Theme: Vacation/Destination

If... I could go to anywhere in the world for a vacation or as an ideal destination that I'd love to be in, I would go to Europe and New Zealand.

WHY?!

Because... those countries are like fairy tales for me who was born and live in tropical country. I want to experience the difference.. Feel the different nature, weather, and culture. Also, I want to feel how it likes to be in the 'four seasons' countries. I want to see their beautiful nature-scenery and the magnificent old buildings they have. I want to taste the dishes and the local fruits... Watch the people and their street styles.

And, if I arrive during Winter, I would love to see and play with the snow.. Ohh.. and there's one more thing that can't be more exciting, is that I could be creative with my outfits using all the layering stuffs! ;)

Here is the outfit I would wear to reach my dreamed destination:

With the sunglasses and a light-weight maxi dress I worn, surely I should go in Spring/Summer time of those countries :)

Breaking the Rules: Checkered with checkered

Hijabi Fashion Week Nov 2011 - Day 3
Theme: Break the Rules

Usually, in daily life, I do not wear an outfit with "too much" motifs or prints, especially if the outfit also be in various colors.

Today, for Hijabi Fashion Week's Break the Rules theme, I broke up my own fashion rule.. :) I tried to pair check pattern with check pattern in several different colors... thing that I've never done before.

Here is the picture of the outfit.. I was sporting two-toned checkered blazer (red-white and black-white check pattern), with checkered vintage minidress in dark blue and black:

Outfit:
Blazer by Philip, Yogyakarta.

What did you think of this?
Did I succeed breaking the rule stylishly? Or, did I ruin the outfit?... hahhaha.. :D
(ohh.. I forgot to mention that this didn't include the mask I held... :o)

'Hiking' Look

Hijabi Fashion Week Nov 2011 - Day 2
Theme: Hobby/Recreation

I love to hike... Hiking the hill, the wood, the sand dune...

I enjoy the scenery surrounds me while I am hiking. It's so refreshing and made me appreciate the nature and its beauty God creates.. and for that, I am so thankful.

This is one of the outfits I wore during my "hiking time".. ;)

Hijabi Fashion Week: Day 6 - Vacation / Travel

HFW, June 3, 2011

My Outfits for vacation or travelling:

Outfit 1:

  • T-shirt: a simple long-sleeved cotton t-shirt.
  • Skirt: a super light-weight skirt. It dries so quickly when it gets wet. Perfect to be wore to the beach. Underneath the skirt, I was wearing a pair of swimwear leggings, so the legs will stay covered if the skirt was blowing up by the wind or by sea waves.
  • Belt: an elastic coral-white belt, build of small coral-stones.
  • Headscarf: a purple square scarf, folded into rectangle shape, and wrapped in a loose wrap style as Hana of StyleCovered did with her pashmina (click here to watch the tutorial), but I pinned the long-end of the scarf onto my tee (because the rectangle-shape of my scarf is shorter than the usual pashmina), to keep it stay in place.

Outfit 2:
  • Pin-striped shirt
  • Checkered vest with gold buttons at the front
  • White pants
  • Grey square-scarf
  • My favorite black flat shoes.. :)
(Location: Sundak Beach & Taman Sari, Yogyakarta)

Can't wait for another vacation and travelling.. :)

So far, this category of HFW is my favorite. I love all the HFW participants' styles and their photography. The scenery.. the outfits.. all are amazing! They all look so fresh and beautiful!! :)

Hijabi Fashion Week: Day 5 - Jummah

HFW, June 3, 2011

These are my outfits for Jummah and going to the Mosque.

I wore my basic long-sleeves, black maxidress. On the first outfit, I wore a midcalf-length white dress and off-white cardigan over it, matched with a pearls bracelet, black-and-white rectangle scarf, and my wedged-sandals with white flower-embellishment on it

On the second outfit, I wore a sleeve-less, green minidress over the black maxidress, a green rectangle scarf (the same scarf I wore at Day 1 - Work Wear), a pink buckle added on the scarf as an accessories, and a pair of black pumps.

Have a wonderful Jummah, Everyone!!! :)

Hijabi Fashion Week: Day 2 - Formal Attire

May 31, 2011

Day 2 - Formal Attire

Outfit 1:
  • Short-slevees, vintage batik maxidress
  • Long-sleeves, black t-shirt underneath
  • White coral belt
  • A brown long earring, just for my left ear :)
  • A green chiffon square-scarf

Outfit 2:
  • Short-sleeves, vintage batik top and skirt
  • Long-sleeves, black t-shirt underneath
  • A scarf in gradation colours: creme to dark brown with gold threads stripes, as an inner-scarf
  • A light-green, satin square-scarf.
  • An ethnic, long necklace made of Kalimantan's natural stones, wore as bracelet
  • Small party bag
  • Flower brooch

Got these vintage batik dress and two pieces of top and skirt from my grandmother.. :)

For me, these clothes are so beautiful and I'm really in love with the motifs: wayang/Indonesian shadow-puppet (outfit 1), birds and flowers (outfit 2). The fabrics are also very comfortable to wear!

These garments are definitely made from high-quality materials and skills (batik technique and art).. After years, they are still in a very good condition.

Tips for today: Re-wear your mom or grandmother's vintage clothes, and try to mix and match them with your 'modern' contemporary clothes. You never know whether it works or whether the combo (vintage-contemporary) will look good on you, unless.. you try.. :)

Don't forget for tomorrow, Day 3 - Work Out Wear!
